What people are saying...
"Oddly enough, my two favorite artists shared a Color School meets urban landscape sensibility. ... Michael Torra's monochromatic city skylines pop against a backdrop of bold, colorful lines."

Artist's Statement
You don’t have to be a member of any elite to appreciate harmony achieved in the balance between shapes or the combination of colors painted side-by-side.
In an urban world where hidden agendas, marketing, and propaganda bombard us, it’s easy to tune everything out and miss the beauty that surrounds us, whether it’s the sky above at twilight, drops of rain in a puddle, the patterns of brick sidewalks or a spinning bicycle wheel.
Breaking down the forms and colors that we too often take for granted, my art plays with these elements to compose an esthetic balance that brings us respite from an overly frenetic world.
Don’t feel pressure to see meaning in my art.   Stand back and simply appreciate a curve for being a curve, and green for being green, and the interplay between these different shapes and colors.   Then, when you least expect it, meaning just might come. |
